Jesus Christ is the Eternal Son of the Heavenly Father. He is one with the Father and one with the Holy
Spirit. Jesus is one with the Creator and it is by Jesus that all things were created (Eph. 3:9). It is
through Christ that we are redeemed and re-created for His service (Eph. 2:10). It is the sacrifice of
Jesus on the cross that satisfies God's justice for the sins I've committed but are now under Christ's
shed blood (1 John 2:1, 2). The resurrection of Jesus from the dead was a display of His power over
death, and His life is what gives me the power to live in victory over sin. My relationship with Jesus
is that of a friend, a brother, a mentor, and my boss.
The Holy Spirit is active in my life in revealing God, through the Word, in nature and though my
conscience, and in giving me the strength and courage to do what is right and what is commanded in God's
Word.
Probably the most influential passages for me have been Jesus' teachings in what is today known as The
Sermon on the Mount. The fact that God not only wants us to conduct ourselves in a way that brings Him
glory, but that He also wants our hearts and minds pure.
Some others:
The apostles instruction in submitting to the laws of the land and those who are in authority over me,
found both in Romans and I Peter.
Realizing the dangers of self-sufficiency and a wrong focus as laid out in Matthew 6.
Seeing that true JOY is found in putting Jesus first, Others next and Yourself last.
Knowing that the things of this earth are temporary, and that my highest priorities need to be the
things that are eternal, most of all, the souls of the people around me.
